"Yes, sir," I said, standing up and bowing. I followed the wolf out of the room and down a long, stone corridor. There were small insets in the walls where burly angel guards stood, spears, hammers, maces, swords, and all sorts of other weapons at their sides. Ten of them were following along behind us, even against the Ancient One's advice. The wolfman seemed extremely nervous, even though Londain had told him it was okay.
He was quite valiant when I'd seen him fighting my undead minions, tearing into their lines, shredding the creatures with razor sharp teeth and claws.
"It'll just be up ahead," he said, turning to a winding staircase leading down, finally breaking away from the grey, dimly lit corridor. The stairs were made of cast iron, but the walls were grey brick, torches lined the wall, only placed far enough apart to keep shadows from forming in between them. We passed several doorways on the way down, showing a bustling kitchen or a warm, fire lit sitting room.
At last, we emerged into a huge cavern. Long metal walkways crisscrossed the ceiling while hundreds of active forges produced a deafening clamor from below. We proceeded across the metal walkway to a ladder going down to the ground far below.
"Aye! Ya most beh Mister Londain's noo assistant eh?" came a voice the second we touched down. A burly dwarf bustled up, a thick grey beard covering his lower face while a heavy leather bandana capped his head and was pulled down over his eyebrows. Long grey hair protruded out from under it like straw from under a scarecrow's hat.
"Londain requests a daitō with three Heaven, Earth and Soul Runes," I said calmly, "he told me you'd know what that means?" The dwarf nodded, scratching his chin.
"Right oh, I'll be back," he said, bustling away, his short legs moving quickly.
I turned to see the werewolf walking away.
"Mist Crowley," I called out to him, making him jump.
"Yes Roman?" he asked, turning back to face me.
"They don't know who I am? Do they," I said, putting my hands in the pocket of my the black pants I'd awoken in.
"No, that would cause too many problems, to them, you're just the new assistant," he replied, looking me up and down, "Pick a name for yourself and never mention your old one again," I said, and climbed back up the ladder. I frowned and turned back to the busy foundry. The dwarf emerged from between two large metal curtains hung on the wall, a wooden chest in his arms.
"Ere' ya be mister," he said, handing it to my gingerly, "Mister Londain will be quite pleased," he smiled and started turning away when he stopped, "What's yer name boy?" he asked, looking back at me.
"I, uh," I fumbled over my words.
"Ya don't know yer name?" he asked, laughing heartily.
"I'm Goyle, James Goyle," I said, laughing a bit at my own hesitance.
"Aye James, I'm Roggoth," he said before lazily saluting and walking away.
I climbed the ladder, carefully with the chest and began ascending the stairs. I was just passing a large wooden door when a voice called down the hallway on the other side.
"Roman! In here," it said loudly. I stopped and opened the door, confronted by a long stone hallway, torches casting a warm light on the long red rug on the floor, but adding a creepy glow to the paintings lining the walls. Mister Crowly stood at a doorway, watching me.
"In here boy," he said, gesturing at the door. I walked briskly over before pushing my way into a small office. A small dragonskull laying on the desk among a jumble of papers.

Re: The hidden world of London RP [OPEN][INTERMEDIATE]

Post  LordTomyh on Mon Mar 05, 2012 10:28 pm

I was leaning back in my chair, feet on my desk reading a old manuscript from around 7 AD when Roman came in.
"Greetings Mr. James Goyle. I hope nothing went wrong" I said looking up from my book, smiling. The Warlock stood in the doorway, holding a chest nearly as tall as he was, starring at me confused.
"How did you hear that?" He said, placing the chest on the table and sitting down. I threw the book on the table and tapped the brass tube behind my chair "I have thousands of brass tubes throughout this facility. They amplify sounds and bounce back here where with my super sensitive hearing, I pick out certain sounds"
I smiled again and sat up properly in my chair, grabbing the chest and dragging it over to my side. The chest itself was ornate and eloquent, made from dark ebony wood with fine gilded gold bindings and two diamond clasps.
"Show offs" I muttered as I gently opened the clasps. Diamond is the hardest material in the world, indestructible till a Vampire gets his hands on one. I snickered as I remembered shattering a pure diamond in front of the King of France back in the 12th century.
I opened the lid and actually gasped. The dwarves had outdone themselves. The blade as thick as a two thumbs, or one of Thomas's. the forward cutting edge was made from pure white iron while the blunt thicker edge was made from raven black. The handle was made from light brown wood with thin velvet purple wrapping. The tsuba as thick as a pipe was made from a single pure diamond in the shape of an eye. Near the hilt were three cut out runes, empty parts of the metal that glowed with a faint light blue aura.
I stared down at the sword in awe, my face dropping in amazement. This was a masterpiece, worthy of a place in the arsenal of Heaven. I slowly picked it up, awestruck by the feel of it. As soon as my hands closed around it the runes burned brightly with a piercing blue glow, as a second brighter glow erupted from my chest, burning the top I wore, revealing a thin, muscled pale body, a silvered scared hole just below the heart and a soul rune, burnt into my chest, glowing brightly.
"What on Earth!" I looked up from the blade and quickly pulled my coat closed. "Ignore that Roman. My past isn't one people should know"

I smiled and stood, bowing, "Is there anything else you need? Or shall I return to the cell?" I asked as respectfully as I could. I couldn't help but feel curious about his past, it must have been one hell of an adventure. I had almost opened my mouth to ask something when a horrid thought hit me. If I hadn't been a damn cat, sticking my nose into every bit of magic, every bit of everything, I wouldn't have become so corrupt, and I wouldn't be in this position. I'd probably be a white mage for the tutores under the command of Thomas had I not been so curious about every piece of magic. But it was time for a new beginning, I would not darken my new, pure soul with other souls, I would not experiment on my own soul as I had done before, I had to prove that I'd changed, and that I could be trusted. It would be a long time before I could go free, but I wanted to be able to do good after I was loosed instead of slipping back into my old ways. As mother always used to say, "If you fake it for long enough, it becomes you," I grimaced, waiting on the vampire's reply.

"There is one small errend I need you to do, then Mr. Crowley will escort you to your room" I looked up from my blade again, smiling faintly. "You won't be returning to the hole, but you will be watched with at least 4 angels outside your door at all times and 10 warlocks monitoring the room for any magic" I slid a small vial across the table then sat down, holding my new sword like it was a stick, flipping it over my hand
"Take that to the Tutores Latet infirmary. Mr. Crowley knows the way. Give it to a man called Felix Ames and tell him when he's well I have a mission for him" Roman bowed and stood, slowly walking for the door. I continued playing with my sword, watching as it glided through the air. Just as the warlock was out the door and I remembered something
"Oh and Roman" He poked his head back in the room "Mr. Ames is the man who attacked you in the inn, that night we first met"

I felt my face bleach. I was sure the man would recognize me, in fact, I looked exactly as I had the first time I'd seen the man. I swallowed hard, wondering what I would do should he attack me. I dared not risk using magic the first day of my servantship, but there was no way in hell I would allow him to kill or maim me. My mind snapped to as Mr Crowley opened a heavy wooden door for me, allowing me to step into a long room, beds lining both whitewashed walls. Large chandeliers hung low on the tall ceiling, lighting the room with light magic. There was a man standing at the other end of the room with a few others, they were talking and laughing. One cut off as he saw me walking up, the rest followed suit, staring at me.
"Mr. Ames?" I asked, knowing exactly which one he was.
"Yep!" he said, stepping forward.
"Mr. Londain asked me to give this to you, and tell you that when you're recovered, he has a mission for you," I said quickly before turning to go.
"Those are warlock tattoos," said one of the men, freezing me in my tracks.
"Uhm, indeed," I said, turning back to face them.
"A warlock may only be granted those kinds of runes and symbols if they've surpasses their master, and haven't yet taken an apprentice, meaning a dark mage; since all white mages take an apprentice after their fifth year of training," he continued, he'd obviously either read a book or two, or had been a mage himself. Ames squinted at me, obviously trying to place my face.

I strolled down the banks of the Thames, trying not to breathe in the pungent air of open sewage, decomposing bodies and the cast offs of the many factories and slaughterhouses through London.
Ahead of me I saw the looming Tower of London, home to so many old memories, and new ones I'll keep till my last day.
"Remembering something Dad" I blinked a few times, surprised and turned to the girl next to me. Eveorisa had her head cocked, starring at me with warm eyes and a faint smile. Her skin now pale white, her eyes bright silver like her mothers.
"Dad?" I asked, laughing faintly. A group of boys ran past us, laughing and yelling at each other like kids do. I saw one the boys stop dead, starring at me in horror, before he turned and took off up the street.
"Well since you and mum were together for 5,000 years I guessed that makes you my father" I looked at Eveorisa again, both happy and sad.
I was about to say something, when I felt rage build up in me, exploding out of nowhere. I stopped and spun around, hissing. "Brother, he's here"

I ran through crowded streets, not touching a single person as I weaved hrough the crowds. I could smell him, close, casually walking, the smell of a whore on his arm and there was only one whore I knew that smelled of death and brimstone.
I had left Ebony behind, she being unable to keep up with me, not used to her new body and abilities. I knew she would be safe in the back of my mind, but the rest of it was consumed by anger.
I rushed into an alley and stopped dead in my tracks, the smell of fire and death was strong here, there were not far from where I was standing. But there was a new smell, something familiar yet strange, it smelt of light and happiness, yet darkness and despair, like an angel and a demon, standing close together.
And whatever it was, it was close.

I darted into my hiding place as a man entered the ally. He was pale, his dark hair hanging limply around his shoulders.
He wore a long coat, a top hat, and carried with him a cane- My eyes widened as they zeroed in on that long sleek walking stick. Made of a combination of white and black iron encased in Ebony, a fine craftsmanship of a silver dragon head handle with sapphires set as eyes!
I closed my eyes and concentrated on him, breathing in and smelling him. He was a Vampire, I smiled, he was part Demon! My eyes shot open, now that's different... Nothing I couldn't handle though!
My heart rate and breathing slowly increased... The 'thrill of the hunt' setting in. I shrunk back as he passed me and I waited.
3...2...1! I ran up behind him and snatched the cane from his loose grip and continued off around a corner. I knew he was perusing me and I pushed forward, thoroughly enjoying the wind in my blood red hair.
I turned another corner and bang! He somehow managed to get ahead of me and I slammed right into him. Before I could even fall over he had his hand wrapped around my neck and lifted me higher, my toes just dragging on the floor.
"THAT... was not a smart move!" he growled, applying slight pressure to my windpipe. His eyes were flashing red and I could just see his pearl white fangs. I couldn't help but smile. "I'm not exactly the smartest girl in the world" I replied, somewhat labored.
"Do you even know who I am? I'm the Ancient One!" he said, gripping tighter.
"Nice to meet you, Ancient One-" I smiled pure venom at him "-I'm the abomination!" with that I lifted my hand to his chest, and with a blast of white light, I threw him into the wall and he crashed hard.
Suddenly free, I fell to the ground with a gasp. After a second I grabbed the fallen cane and decided to make sure I hadn't accidentally killed the guy! I crawled over to him and turned him over. He had a pretty nasty gash on his forehead but otherwise seemed fine!
He was rather handsome for Vampire of any standard. I gently lifted his eyelid and saw they were now blue and without realizing it I gently caressed his cheek.
"Don't worry Ancient One... I'm sure we'll meet again"

The spells I'd placed around the Ancient one were gone. I felt them vanish like smoke in the wind. Some extreme magic had just completely obliterated any wards, enchantments or other magics around him. I wasn't supposed to preactice magic without the order's permission, but their own maguses were so weak and pathetic, it was hard NOT getting around their 'failsafes'.
I stood from the workbench where I'd been copying books, there was a flash of white and I stepped into a grungy alleyway, a man lay on the ground before me. Long limp black hair splayed on the ground, a nasty gash on his forehead. The front of his chest was torn open, the muscles beneath the skin twitching and bleeding gently. I bent down, applying a bit of magic to the wound, healing it instantly. I put a hand on his arm and he vanished, teleported to the infirmary back at the Tutores base.
I spun around, my senses flaring up, a strange smell of roses permeating the air. I could feel something powerful, but it was masked with the same magic that knocked the Ancient One out.
"Show yourself!" I bellowed, my voice amplified by magic.

I had just gotten back to my hole-sweet-home to examine my snatch.
"Show yourself!" a voice bellowed. I closed my eyes and let it resonate through me. It was harder long distance but I could sense the warlock, sense a deep darkness within him.
I smiled and chose to ignore him, for now... His path is entwined with the Ancient One.
I knew I had made a bad impression, but I do what I need to survive! Nothing more, nothing less...

[BTW Cross, what I did... wouldn't have ripped open his chest. I'd of mentioned that!]

Post  Damxge on Mon Mar 26, 2012 12:20 am

[Oh, sorry  ]

I turned, looking for any sign of the individual responsible. But the magic was everywhere. I had no clue what kind of power could put out that kind of a ward, confusing my senses and hiding their location. Each position I thought the magician, creature, or whatever was in, was gone and replaced by another, miles away. I had to find this thing, whatever it was.
I launched myself into the air, my wards shielding me from the eyes of the civilians of London. I turned three sixty but found no trail, or even a hint of a solid location. Cursing, I floated above the city. There was a deafening crash and a bold of lightning arced up from the street, one of the angels sent to watch me had just fired it off at me, intending to kill.
I reached out, grabbing the lightning as if it were solid, holding it in a writhing electric ball in my hand. The angel, the leader of the group I'd seen in my cell, blasted up toward me, his spear slashing violently. I struck out with the lightning, blowing the spear from the angel's hands as the electricity struck. Vanishing for an instant, I teleported behind him, grabbing the back of his neck and delivering a shock of magic, what normally would have broken a human's neck, it only stunned the angel.
Letting him go, I teleported back to the tutores, to the infirmity.

[Sorry Cross, two posts too late. I have dark brown hair, almost black]

I woke up when I sense the magic enter the room and I leaped off the bed, landing cat like on the floor hissing. Roman stood in the middle of the infirmary, unmoved, the spell still fading. Around the room warlocks and medics were frozen in their duties, all starring at Roman.
I stood up quickly, brush my long hair behind me back and out of my eyes, "Thank you for waking me Roman, how long was I out? the immortal looked out the windows of the ward, straight into the sun with ease.
"Five minutes at best" He turned back to me and smiled, "I see you're already healed sir" He remarked, smiling gently yet with a slight tint of sarcasm. I was standing naked from the waist up, unmarked except for my two death wounds, the scar on my neck and the healed wound on my chest.
"As we get older our bodies speed up, so does our healing. Where wounds like that would have taken a vampire of 200 years a week to heal, i'm done in under 5 minutes" I pick up my clothes and walk out of the infirmary, Roman just behind me in a servant manner. Going to have to fix that I thought, putting on my hat and mask.
"Do you have some information about what hit me?"
"No sir, whatever it is, it's got powerful magic to negate the wards I put around you with ease" should of expected that from him I think smiling. Roman scans me as I walk, pulling on my vest and gloves, "Sir, it took your sword, didn't it?"
"Yes she did" I don't break pace, pulling on my coat and stepping out in the pungent London air. "No matter, I'll have t back soon, they'll either drive her mad soon enough or find they're way back to me on their own"

[As I was knocked out Cross, I attributed my healed wounds to my natural healing]

Re: The hidden world of London RP [OPEN][INTERMEDIATE]

Post  Damxge on Wed Mar 28, 2012 1:09 am

I was in the farmer's market in a busy square of london, the stench of the city seeping into my bones. I had always despised the city and the people in it, probably why I chose to attack this city with my schemes. I knelt down and picked up a bag of flower, turning to the seller, I tossed a few coins and started to walk away.
"Oi! You still owe me ten pence!" The man yelled, jumping over the front of the booth to grab me and spin me around.
"This flour is degraded and has been wet, there's mold already starting to grow, its not worth more than what I've paid you," I said, standing my ground against the man, who towered above me, his arms were about my size. He had a small bit of hair growing on his chin, but that was all.
"I don't care how crappy you think it is! That's high quality stuff, now either pay for it, or move out," He bellowed his face turning red. I glanced around, tasting the air for any magical presence, I felt one as a red haired girl passed by.
"Excuse me," I said, tapping her arm. She turned around and cocked her head.
"Yes?" she asked politely, she was dressed rather oddly, as most of the people wore either elaborate and expensive dresses, or rags.
"Could you please tell me what you think of this flour?" I asked, holding the sack out, the fifty pound bag hanging by its corner from my hand.

I leaned in to inspect it closer, gagging dramatically I took a step back.
"I wouldn't use this MULCH as anything but poison!" I exclaimed, watching in delight as the mans face turned even redder! I struggled not to smile as I glanced at the other man, clearly a warlock and something strangely familiar about him.
"How much is this crook trying to charge you?"

"Way too much," I said, tossing the bag of flour back to the guy. He stumbled a bit and stood there glowering at us.
"Alright, fine take it," he said, shoving it against my chest. I smiled dramatically at him and turned to the girl as he stomped back to his booth. She had actually hung around and was staring at me a bit oddly. It was the first real interaction I'd had with another individual in years, as I'd been more interested in peoples' souls than the people themselves. I had to shove the thought out of my head, I was NOT going back that way, I'd turned a page, and was a new man.
"Hey, I'm Roman," I said, holding out my hand, "err, I mean, uhh, James," I fumbled, forgetting that I was no longer going by that name, not even to regular townfolk.

I tilted my head at him. I was never a good sign when someone changed their name halfway through introducing themselves. I smiled and a took his hand shaking it firmly. "Nice to meet you... James" it had been beyond tempting to call him Roman, but I decided not to torment him.
"So, what IS the flour for? Hope it's not for cooking, cause it I guenuinly believe it could make someone sick" I said starting to walk. I then realized that being a Warlock he could esily and quickly sift out all the bad bits!

"Its for a little ritual," I said, smiling, walking along next to her, she just happened to be going in the same direction I was, back toward the tutores guild hall.
"Oh? What kind of ritual?" she asked, glancing over at me.
"Uhm, well, I can't really talk about it," I said, blushing furiously, the hell was I even talking to her, I could teleport back just as easily as walking. She was obviously enjoying my discomfort in the way she wouldn't look directly at me, but was smiling and glancing over to see my reaction.
I was about to say something else when the faint hint of roses wafted through the air, not normal roses, but a magical perfume. I froze, unsure of what this meant. The girl stopped a few feet ahead of me, glancing back with a slightly mocking stare.
"See a snake?" she asked, glancing around, I was staring into space, exuding amounts of energy that would have killed a hundred normal warlocks over; trying to find the source. I hated this blanket ward I'd discovered over the city, I'd never felt it before because I'd lived with it for so long, but now that it hid whoever hit Londain, it annoyed the hell out of me.

I just couldn't shake the feeling that I should stay away from this guy. Every sign pointed at him being bad news, but I couldn't get myself to leave. He was so familiar and I knew that voice.
He was looking all around now, as though he was being followed, then staring off into the distance. He was starting to freak me out a little bit and I took a step back.
"What's wrong"

[Try not to figure it out just yet]

I shook my head and started walking again, "Sorry, thought I heard something," I said, failing at coming up with an excuse. She smiled, still taunting me. Though possibly a bit more apprehensive, she must have been either completely insane, or really curious to continue walking with me.
We strode along in silence for a few minutes before I turned to the door of a large building, underneath which were tunnels leading into the Tutores' base.
"My stop," I said, opening the door, but turning back to her, "By the way, what's your name?" I asked, leaning against the doorframe.

"Now, where would be the fun in that?" I asked a sudden gleam in my eyes! I relished in the confusion on his face before continuing on my way.
"Hang on!" I heard him yell behind me. Wiping the smile away and turned to him and tilted my head in what I hoped was an endearing way. "That's not fair" I shrugged at him in return.
"You gave enough names for the both up us" I teased before practically skipping away.

Re: The hidden world of London RP [OPEN][INTERMEDIATE]

I was still grinning like an idiot when I reached Londain's office a few minutes later. I knocked heavily on the door.
"Yes Roman," the Ancient One said loudly, signalling me to enter. I stepped inside and tossed the bag of flour down onto the floor.
"And that's for?" Londain asked, eying the sack with a mixture of disgust and curiosity, "To accent the room with a nice moldy dust?" he looked up at me, a quill in one hand, his other holding a piece of parchment down.
"I have a plan to find whatever attacked you," I said, walking up to the desk, my hopes were high that he would allow me to perform the complex ritual.
"And what do you propose?" he asked, folding the paper and putting it in a drawer.
"A ritual, to infect the ward covering whatever it is that stole your sword," I said, nudging the sack with my foot; it floated into the air, the flour on the carpet lifting up with it, leaving the spot clean.
"Infect?" he asked, cocking his head a bit.
"Yes, its a spell I designed, but never needed to use because none of the wards I'd ever faced couldn't be broken by my mind or magic," I felt giddy, almost like an apprentice showing off to a master, I had to stop that, I probably looked like a fool, I may have looked around twenty, but I was a hundred year old warlock for god's sake.
"How does it work," Londain asked, standing and walking around his desk.
"I take an impure substance, something that should have been pure, but was molested by some natural occurrence; I convert the physical mass into energy, but this energy is impure as a whole, and when the ward absorbs it as it does with all energy, it will infect the whole mass, disabling it, and in some cases with weaker mages, kill the carrier of the magic," I said, breathing hard as I finished, out of breath.
"Alright, but do it away from the tutores, we don't need you blowing your cover by doing some matter transformation in front of them," he said, sitting back down and shuffling through his papers. I smiled, bowed and exited, the flour floating along behind me.
I exited the building and turned left, almost running up the alley with the flour on my shoulder. I would return to my castle, my old hideout and base, it had many wards of mine still in tact and would be a familiar place.
I passed through a square, a fountain in the center, the red haired girl sat next to the fountain. I had to resist the urge to go speak to her, but I had a sneaking suspicious she'd seen me pass by.
I put the thought out of my head and ran all the way to the old crumbling castle before hitting myself in the head for not teleporting. I entered the large courtyard, the normally well trimmed grass was ragged and smashed, no one had been taking care of my home. After a few quick spells to fix it up a bit, and after my OCD subsided, I split the bag of flour open and dumped it onto the ground.
Lifting my hands over my head, I drew energy from the stores I'd made in gems inlaid into the castle walls, matter transformation wasn't an easy feat.
After almost ten minutes, the flour had vanished completely, in its place was a floating mass of greenish yellow light. I smiled, almost done.

I didn't feel like going home yet so I decided to visit the fountain. It was a nice, quite, peaceful place, that more often than not, was empty, so it felt like it was just for me!
Out of the corner of my eye I saw that James guy walk past, flour bag over his shoulder. Confused I waited for him to go out of sight before standing up, brushing myself down, then quickly but quietly following him.
He came to a old rundown castle and entered the courtyard. He looked around almost appalled, and cast a few spells to fix the place up.
He poured all of the flour into the floor.
He lifted his hands up causing the gems incrusted in the wall to glow after a while the flour was completely gone, replaced by a cloud of greenish-yellow light.
"What on earth are you doing?" I asked, leaning casually against the wall.
Startled, he turned to face me and the thing behind him dropped, dissipating through the floor and vanishing.
"You" was all he managed to say, clearly surprised. The unvoiced question of 'why are you here' visable in his eyed. I smiled and shrugged. "Curioser and curiouser" I muttered looking around the room. "I've never seen you before in my life, and now we meet, I see you twice in a matter of hours!" I said walking towards him. "I may believe in a lot of things, good sir, coincidences ain't one of them!"

Re: The hidden world of London RP [OPEN][INTERMEDIATE]

I just stood there, gaping at her, she had followed me? I knew I should have teleported. I glanced back at where the energy had been, now gone completely, dissipated into the ground. I hadn't injected the bad energy into the ward directly, so it was unlikely it would have any effect, which meant I needed more bad flour, or a bag of mold.
"You, I, what?" I sputtered, glancing around to see if the Ancient One was testing me or something. I felt nothing around me, no trap, no trick, nothing.
"I've never really been around," I said, scuffing the grass with my boot, "Holed away up here since I came to London," I said, motioning at the walls. I figured I owed her a response for my odd behavior, and I really didn't want her to be suspicious of me.
"Since you been here? How long have you been here?" she asked, "You look like you're about twenty?" she said, walking around the courtyard, picking at the walls.
"I've been here for about ninety years," I said, my eyes following her, I was beginning to get uneasy.
"What's that?" she asked suddenly, pointing into a large doorway.
"What's what?" I asked, but before I could get over to her, she had gone inside. Stumbling forward, I ran after her, "No, please don't go in," I started, but froze as I entered the large room. It had once been the grand hall, a place where I'd housed many of my larger experiments, life creation, transmutations, etc. But instead of the cages that should have been hanging from the cieling, or the tables that should have been scattered around the large brick room, there was a massive obsidian dragon head floating in mid air, an odd green glow surrounding it.
I recognized it immediately. It was the dragon maw spell I'd used to kill Satan, the one that had killed me. I just stood there staring at the huge head, the detail of its scales more elaborate than any craftsman could have managed.
"Uhh," I mumbled, I was completely lost for words. There was no way I could explain that.
"You're Roman Marvarak," she said quietly, standing about ten feet ahead of me, staring up at the giant head.
"What? No, I'm," I mumbled.
"You attacked the city, every magical being was terrified of you for years, there are stories about you," she said, turning to face me, "But you died, when you summoned satan to the city, you were killed by the angels in an attempt to save the dark lord, and then he retreated to his lair in hell," she said softly, walking toward me, oddly enough, instead of away from me.
I was appalled, of course the Angel Council would spread stories of how the darkness was no match for them, of course they would glorify themselves. Filled with rage, I had to say something, I had to.
"Satan is dead," I said, walking forward, putting a hand gently on her arm to turn her to look at the dragon head, "I sealed him into that," I pointed at the obsidian statue.
"But, you were his servant?" she said, half asking.
"No, I was my own free man, I never took a vow to obey him, and when the time came that he threatened something I loved, I had to stop him," I leaned against a small wooden stool, "I used up so much energy, I died. I lost the power I'd worked for my whole life, the power greater than any angel, the power of millions of souls, a demigod," I had started speaking louder now, and gestured dramatically as I told me tale, "But I gave it all up for a woman who truly does not love me any more; and the Ancient One saved me in an act of mercy and justice, and so I now serve him in a sentence six thousand years long," I closed my eyes, rubbing my hands over my face. It felt so good to let it all out.
I looked at the red haired girl and was surprised to find she was still there, just as close to me as she had been before, I didn't quite understand how she could still be there after she discovered who I was, and then listened to my rant.
